Why We Love F1 and F1b Aussiedoodles
Aussiedoodle Puppies for Sale: What is an Aussiedoodle?
An Aussiedoodle puppy is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a standard poodle. There are also mini aussiedoodles that are a cross between a mini Australian Shepherd and a poodle. Some people believe that aussiedoodles are the same as an Australian Labradoodle, but this is not the case. However, some people also call Aussiedoodles by the name Aussiepoo.

Aussiedoodle Puppies for Sale: What do the terms F1, F1b, and F2 actually mean?
F1, F1b, and F2 are terms used to tell the generation or crossbreed of a doodle.
F2 means that an F1 Aussiedoodle is bred to an F1 Aussiedoodle. The results are unpredictable since one cannot predict which of the poodle and Australian Shepherd genetic traits each puppy will receive. Often around half the puppies will predominately have Australian Shepherd traits and the other half will mainly have poodle traits.
Aussiedoodle Puppies for Sale: What Generations we Offer
1. We mainly breed F1 Aussiedoodle puppies (50% Australian Shepherd/50% Standard Poodle). They usually grow up to be about 45-55 lbs. F1 Aussiedoodle puppies are perfect for you if you want the coloring and temperament of an Australian Shepherd but have mild allergies, dislike hair everywhere or desire the calming influences and train ability of the poodle.
2. We occasionally breed F1b Aussiedoodle puppies for rehoming (25% Australian Shepherd/75% Standard Poodle). They usually weigh about 35-50 lbs when they are fully grown. An F1b Aussiedoodle puppy is perfect for you if you have more severe allergies, love the coloring of an Australian Shepherd, or just love a curlier coated Aussiedoodle.

Aussiedoodle Puppies for Sale: Why We Love F1 Aussiedoodles
You may wonder why we love the 50/50 Aussiedoodle hybrid. It is because of their wonderful temperaments and their low coats. According to the 2024 AKC list of most of popular dog breeds, Australian Shepherds came in #12. They are beautiful and fun loving dogs, they also require a lot of attention and mental stimulation. Bred as herding dogs, Australian Shepherds thrive in a home where they have a job and lots of attention. They love treats, puzzles, games and new activities.
The poodle contributes a keen intelligence, eagerness to please and his hypoallergenic coat. Poodles are considered the 2nd most intelligent dog, not only because of how smart they are, but because they are highly trainable. This helps temper the willfulness of the Australian Shepherd, making Aussiedoodles easier to train.

Aussiedoodle Puppies for Sale: What to Expect for Grooming Your Aussiedoodle in Arizona
Aussiedoodles, just like most doodles, do need to be groomed frequently. I do feel like owning an Aussiedoodle in Arizona shifts the requirements a little bit, depending on what look you prefer for your Aussiedoodle. I let my dogs grow out a bit in the winter, but tend to keep their coats very short in the summer heat. Even with daily walks happening at 4:30 am during the summer, the Arizona heat is still, well, very hot, so I like trying to keep them as cool as possible.
I recommend brushing your Aussiedoodle puppy daily or at least 3 times a week especially around the ears and under the legs to prevent matting. This is also an excellent way to help build a great relationship with your Aussiedoodle. Aussiedoodles love frequent, undivided attention.
You do not want to over bathe your Aussiedoodle, so unless you are going on long hikes or doing other activities that make your Aussiedoodle very dirty, giving them a bath every 4-6 weeks is adequate. One you bathe them, you definitely want to brush their coats out as they dry to prevent matting. I use the Nuvet Oatmeal Conditioning spray between baths to lightly clean them and keep their coats nice and shiny. You definitely want to trim their claws every 4-6 weeks to keep them a healthy length. If I hear a dogs claws start clicking, then that is my reminder to trim their nails.
As for professional grooming, most groomers recommend that you bring your Aussiedoodle in for grooming every 6-8 weeks. Again, this depends on your preference. We do our own grooming. In the winter we are giving our doodles and poodles a trim about every 10 weeks. Once the weather starts heating up, we cut their hair as short as possible every 4-6 weeks for the duration of what feels like our 6 months of Arizona summer.
Because doodles do have higher requirements for grooming, we start exposing all of our Aussiedoodle puppies to grooming very early. Nail trimming begins when they are only a few days old, baths begin at two weeks. At this point, we also begin brushing them frequently and putting them on the grooming table. We also expose them to the noise of the clippers so that when you take home your Aussiedoodle puppy they are ready for the grooming schedule of your choice.
Aussiedoodle Puppies for Sale: Training Requirements
Training any puppy takes resilience, patience, and lots of love. Aussiedoodles are incredibly intelligent and eager to please, which is a huge help in your training endeavors. However, it is important to remember that their parent breed (Australian Shepherds) are "working" dogs. They require challenges and jobs to be healthy, happy and stay out of trouble.
If you channel your Aussiedoodle puppy's high intelligence and desire to please in the proper direction, you can have the most amazing, well behaved dog of your dreams. If you do not stimulate their intellect properly, they will come up with their own ways to channel their intelligence. For instance, I have fridge locks on my refrigerator because if my Australian Shepherd, Bailey, can open gates and doors, I dare not trust her with the contents of my refrigerator. When she runs the farm she seems determined to set all of her fellow dogs free, opening the gates for all of them if we forget to clip them shut.
To keep your Aussiedoodle truly happy, you need a deep level of connection, daily exercise and daily training sessions, even if it is just refreshing old tricks. They love challenges and adventures. They are great hiking buddies, enjoy long walks, and meet every challenge with smile. I recommend puzzle toys and obstacles for them. Take care of your Aussiedoodle puppy and they will become like velcro and the most marvelous friend!
